HOW TO AVOID BEING DENIED ON A WARRANTY CLAIM
How To Avoid Being Denied On A Warranty Claim
Here are some issues that will most likely cause your warranty company to reject your claim along with some general advice:
Get approval for repairs before they are done. Claims have been known to be denied because of failure to get the companys prior authorization.
Many warranties require oil changes every 6 months. Check your owners manual for regular service requirements and follow them. Not doing so could result in denial of a warranty claim. If your engine fails because you didnt get an oil change for two years, the warranty company isnt going to pay to replace it. Refer to your manual if you live in mountain areas or other areas with hazardous driving conditions. The warranty company may require you to follow those procedures as well.
If your car has a failure, get it fixed immediately. Warranties will not cover damage to a vehicle that has had continued operation after a previous failure. Towing will almost always be cheaper than a voided claim.
Check fluid levels regularly along with scheduled maintenance and service checks.
If a lot of work is required to reach the failed part and its not covered by your warranty, you pay for everything.
A warranty will not cover a pre-existing condition on the used car you just purchased.
A vehicle with a salvaged title voids an extended warranty.
